Obituary for Dr. Gordon Stone
Dr. Gordon R. Stone, 85, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017, after
his battle with cancer. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the
late Milton and Theodora (Bauser) Stone and older brother of the late Ellen
Stone.
Gordon graduated from Normandy High School, St. Louis; earned his BS in
Education at Greenville College, Illinois; and then acquired his Master's
and Doctorate Degrees in Education Administration at U of I. After serving
in the US Army, he procured various positions in education, including
Macoupin County Asst. Superintendent of Schools and Dean of Belleville
Area College. Gordon's later years were devoted to his two companies-
Voltek and MgWatt--and to "To Know Him Ministries."
He is survived by his three daughters-Ginny (Joel) Smith, Valerie (John)
Blizzard, and Elaine (Bill) Eppler-as well as 12 grandchildren and 5 great-
grandchildren.
Military services and burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National
Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, on Friday, August 25th, at
10:30am. Please arrive 15 minutes early to be escorted to the committal
site.
