Obituary for Joseph Martin Abts
Joseph Martin Abts, 45, of Pekin passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in Pekin. He was born January 25, 1972 in Peoria to John Martin and Mary Kathryn Keller Abts. He married Tammy R. Wilson August 28, 1999 in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his sons whom he loved with all his heart, Ryan T. Abts and Brenner M. Abts both of Pekin; brother, A. John Abts of Pekin; sisters, Toni (Neal) Burks of Pekin, Lee Ann Abts of Pekin; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Debbie and Fred Schindler of Creve Coeur; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tanya and Kep LaSota of Morton; nieces and nephew, Sydney Burks, Macey LaSota and Dylan LaSota. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. Joe was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. He graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1990. After graduation he went to work at his family business Abts Mortuary; after his parents passing, Joe became the third generation owner and operator of the funeral home. He volunteered many hours to his church taking care of St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. He was the President of the SBA in Pekin for years and worked many hours making Derby Days and the SBA booth at the Marigold Festival happen. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1 p.m. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. He will be laid to rest next to his parents at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin following the mass. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic School in his name. His family at Abts Mortuary is taking care of his arrangements.
