Obituary for Abraham Wilkinson III
Abraham “Abe” Cantrell Wilkinson III, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Amy’s Country Manor in Pekin, IL. He was born January 17, 1929 in Doe Run, MO to Abraham Cantrell & Katy Childers Wilkinson Jr. He married Martha Bishop September 23, 1950 in Peoria. She preceded him in death January 4, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Wilkinson, Woodrow Wilkinson, Bill Wilkinson, Glen Wilkinson, Chester Wilkinson; sisters, Rosemary Vaugh, Bernice Marsh, Laura Wilkinson, Norma jean Wilkinson; one great-grandson and one nephew. He is survived by his children, David (Susan) Wilkinson of Stanardsville, VA, John Wilkinson of Jackson, MO, Judy Wirth of Green Valley, IL, Joyce (Michael) Bush of Pekin, IL; grandchildren, Jimmie Kinder Jr., Jennifer (Chuck) Burgess, Dan (Katy) Bush, Angie Smith, Christy Williams, Brandi Wilkinson, Robert Wilkinson, Christopher Wilkinson, Dylan Wilkinson, MacKenzie Wilkinson; twelve great-grandchildren; two great great-granddaughters; sister, Stella Parson of Granite City, IL and several nieces and nephews. Abe served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a millwright for Caterpillar for 44 years before retiring February 2, 1989. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose 916 and UAW 974 Retiree. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL where a funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. Fr. Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, April 8, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Autism Speaks in his name.
