Obituary for Alan Ward
Alan F. Ward, 80, of Pekin passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 18, 1939 in Peoria to Charles M. and Laura J. Barrick Ward. He married Christie L. Eertmoed November 2, 1974 in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Melissa (Jerry) Drake and brother, Brad (Sharron) Ward. His parents preceded him in death. Alan worked at Hyster, Lonza and Greater Peoria Sanitary District, retiring from GPSD as Maintenance Supervisor in 1999. His love for the river stemmed from his mother who was raised on the river. He was a Lifetime Member of the Pekin Boat Club and was an avid boater, spending many weekends on his boat the White Diamond. He enjoyed the river and was quite a historian about it. As a young man he was goalie and later referee for the Pekin Stars Hockey Team. Alan dearly loved his wife, family and his current dogs, Gretje and Piper and past dog, Usher. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to TAPS in his name.
