Obituary for Alfred J. Pogioli
Alfred J. Pogioli 88, of Pekin passed away on Sunday October 25, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. Born in Bartonville on August 17, 1921 to Herman and Eurosia Drudi Pogioli. He married Mary Jane Rapp in Greensboro, NC on April 10, 1945. She survives along with his children: Martin (Barbara) Pogioli of Pekin, Sally (John) Fairley of Peoria, Timothy (Janet) Pogioli of Peoria, Lisa (Greg) Massa of Pekin, Gregory Pogioli of Atlanta, GA and Michael (Terry) Pogioli of Pekin. He also leaves behind his 17 grand and 4 great grandchildren and his brpther-in-law Carl Yock. His sisters Marie Yock and Elena Pogioli and brother R. Victor Pogioli preceded him in death. Alfred was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He served in WWII as a Sgt. in the Army Air Corp and retired as Store Manager from Thompson Food Basket. Prior to that he was the Regional Manager for Perfect Plus Hosiery. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held on Wednesday October 28, at 10:30 a.m. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin where military rites will be conducted by the Air Force. Visitation will be on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 4:30. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church or St. Joseph School. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
