Obituary for Anita Smith
Anita Rae Smith, 79, of Glasford, IL passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born August 21, 1933 to Tony and Pearl Spell Grant in Metropolis, IL. She married Henry A. Smith December 25, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joyce and brothers, Kenny and Larry. She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Judy) Smith of Glasford, IL, Randy (Mindy) Smith of Glasford, IL, Larry (Barbara) Smith of O’Fallon, MO, Gene (Michele) Smith of Pekin, IL; daughters, Linda (Joe) Duez of Bartonville, IL, Bonnie (Jerry) Schrodt of Canton, IL, Vicki (Karl) Larson of Peoria, IL; brothers, Jerry Grant of Bethalto, IL, Michael (Peggy) Grant of Senora, Mexico; sisters, Karol Sue (Dwayne) Allen of Bartonville, IL, Cheri (Ric) Coyle of Dorsey, IL; step-sister, Elaine (Gary) Semones of Beaumont, CA; twenty-four grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Anita worked as a caregiver in home health and was the previous site manager at Glasford Senior Center. She was a devoted and caring mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and friends. She dedicated her life to helping others and the family she had at the Glasford Senior Center. She attended Glasford Baptist Church where a memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. “Plain” Paul Cook will officiate. Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice Care or Glasford Senior Center in her name. Cremation has been accorded.
