Obituary for Bernard S. Happach
Bernard Sebastian Happach 98, of E. Peoria formerly  of Pekin passed away on Sunday August 30, 2009 at Riverview Senior Living in East Peoria. Born in Peoria on August 29, 1911 the son of Bernhardt (Ben) and M. Theresa Malone Happach. He married Elma L. Woodfill in Peoria on March 27, 1941. She preceded him in death on August 1, 1980 also preceding him in death were his 2 brothers, 2 sisters, daughter Donna Snodgrass and daughter-in-law Sheila Happach. Bernard is survived by his best friend and longtime companion Palma Pittman of East Peoria, son Bernard C. (Deborah) Happach of Pekin, grandchildren; Patricia (Joe) Christen, Larry (Lilly) Juchems, Christina Mancuso, Jeffry (Sherry) Juchems, Joylynn (Chris) Christen, Bernard C. (Shana) Happach, Bradley (Flor Demaria) Juchems and Nancy (Tyson) Carle. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. He served in the European Theater during WWII with the Army and has been the owner of 14

Street Market & hardware since 1937. He belonged to the Elks Lodge, American Legion and Knights of Columbus Arch Bishop Schlarman Council # 3507 and was a member of St. Joseph and St. Philomena Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held for him on Thursday September 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Timothy Nolan and Deacon Chuck Murray will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin with military rites by the U.S. Army. Visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Wednesday September 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Joseph Catholic Church or School. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary in Pekin.
