Obituary for Bob Bowman
Bob Bowman had a great life! He was born March 16, 1924, in Yates City and graduated from Knoxville High School where he met the love of his life, Ginny. In 1943 he joined the Army-Air Corps and was based in Italy as a pilot of a P-38 reconnaissance plane. Oh, the stories he would tell! He returned from the war in October and married Ginny on November 10, 1945. They would have celebrated their 65
th
anniversary next month. They had five children: Steve (deceased 2009) (wife Gaby); Jackie Bowman Mitchell of Bloomington; Judy Bowman Miller (Harvey) of Chico, California; Chuck (Judy) of Canton and Lamont; and Dennis (Terri) of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandson, Andy, in 1986.Â
Bob retired from MetLife in 1980. Throughout his life, he loved playing golf, playing cards, playing jokes, making candy, working in his workshop, dancing, and especially spending quality time with family and friends.
There will be a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, at First Christian Church in Canton. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or charity of choice.
