Obituary for Bonnie L Oberlander
Bonnie L. Oberlander, 72, of East Peoria passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born March 2, 1942 in Anoka, Minnesota to Fao and Lucille Patterson. Her siblings were, Pete, Gary and Sissy Patterson, and then Vince, Phillip, Dominick and Gianna San Angelo. Adopted in 1944 by Roy and Edith Gauwitz, she gained three more siblings, Bill, Gene and Roger Gauwitz. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roy and Edith Gauwitz; brothers, Roger Gauwitz, Gene Gauwitz, Bill Gauwitz, Pete Patterson, Phillip San Angelo; sister, Gianna San Angelo; birth mother, Lucille San Angelo and grandson, Matthew Rockhill. She married Patrick Oberlander in 1960, he survives. She is also survived by her three children, Lori Oberlander, Mindi (Kenny) Radley and Patrick Oberlander II; grandchildren, Christopher (Eliesa) Rockhill, Casey (Jason) Conger, Kerri (Nicholas) Gremminger, Kendra Radley, Tori Radley, Patrick Oberlander III and 11 great grandchildren. In 1972 she worked as a CNA at American Nursing Home in Washington, IL. In 1973 she hired on at Methodist Hospital as a CNA. In 1974 became an EKG technician and in 1976 becoming an EEG technician as well. In 1982 she traveled throughout Illinois and Wisconsin setting up sleep labs to conduct studies on brain wave activity at St. Francis, St. James, St. Johns, St. Joseph and St. Mary’s Hospitals. In 1987 she became Director of Neurophysiology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bloomington, Illinois. Working also at Proctor Hospital in 1991 and later working independently as an on call specialist until 2000. Her accomplishments and commitment to the medical field has touched thousands of hearts, and generations of lives. Cremation has been accorded and her memorial service will be held Friday, August 15 from 3-6 pm at First Baptist Church 411 W. Lake Ave., Peoria, IL 61614.
