Obituary for Bruce Goeken
Bruce D. Goeken, known by JB to his family and friends, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at his home in Creve Coeur, IL. JB was born November 25, 1947 in Pekin, IL to Richard and Charlotte Goeken of Delavan, IL. He was preceded in death by is father, Richard W. Goeken; brother, Keith M. Goeken and grandson, Wesley R. Goeken. Surviving are son, David L. Goeken and grandsons, Nicholas J. Goeken, Lucas R. Goeken of Peoria, IL; mother, Charlotte J. Goeken of Bloomfield, IA; brother, Darrell (Chungie) Goeken of Davenport, IA and sisters, Sylvia (Bill) Stockham of Green Valley, IL, LuAnn (Nick) Morton of Pulaski, IA and Barb (Randy) Lawson of Bloomfield, IA. JB enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson’s for over 45 years. Many of those miles were shared with friend, Sonny Stawn. He inherited this love for H-D from his paternal grandpa “Pop” William J. Goeken who rode his first H-D from Peoria to Delavan in 1913. JB’s biggest passion in life was canoeing and camping on the Current River. His first trip was in 1979 and his last trip was in June 2014. He made over 225 3 & 4 day trips and could tell you more about the Current than most of the people who live there. He loved to share his beautiful pictures and when he talked about the river, you felt as if you were right there with him. Cremation has been accorded and a private service will be held.
