Obituary for Buell "Bud" Edward Burton

Buell “Bud” Edward Burton, 95, of Pekin passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.


He was born June 21, 1927, in Green Valley to Buell Francis and Mayme Mae Proctor Burton. His parents preceded him in death.


He married Betty A. Simpson September 21, 1950, at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Pekin; she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Gail Lynn (Dave) Burton Fee, Billie Marie (David) Burton Maquet; two granddaughters; one grandson and five great-grandchildren.


Bud graduated from Pekin Community High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville and retired from Superior Sand Blasting and Painting in Tremont.


He was a member of the 1st Christian Church. He was also a member of Masonic Orders: past Master of Empire Lodge #126, Pekin – transferred to Tremont Lodge also Irin Grotto, Knights of Pythias, Delavan Chapter #58 and past Patron of Celestial City Chapter #333 Order of Eastern Star, past Watchman of Shepherds of the Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem #83, and Queen Christina Court #8 Order of Amaranth. He was the top officer of each of the above orders as well as a Grand Lodge Officer for the Knights of Pythias.


Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
