Obituary for Carole Ann Utley
Carole Ann Utley 71, of West Peoria passed away on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at her home. Born in Peoria on August 10, 1944 to Harold and Alverta McEndollar Pruett. She married Raymond Utley who survives along with her children: Darla Byrd of Washington, Michael (Doug Burton) Utley of Peoria Heights, Deanna Steele of Washington, grandchildren: Richard (Shaina) Byrd III of Farmington, Nathaniel (Melissa) Steele of Pennsylvania, Zachary (Amber) Steele of Washington, Melissa Byrd of Washington, Kayleigh Byrd of Washington, great grandchildren: Faith Carrell and CJ Carrell both of Farmington, sisters: Patricia (Art) Carlton of East Peoria, Donna Free of El Paso and Sharon (Vance) Ruff of East Peoria. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Ann Utley, great grandson, Gavin Michael Byrd and brothers, William and Donald Pruett. Susie’s favorite flowers were daisy’s and tulips. But she loved tending to all her flowers. Every year she included her family in a spring planting extravaganza. The end result was breath taking. From cookies and cakes to potato salad and soup, Susie loved to be in the kitchen, whipping up something delicious. No one can match the flavors she made. In her backroom she stored hundreds of recipes, she’d perfected each one with her special touch. Susie’s ultimate passion was her family. Before she and her husband Ray had kids they would go to the drive-in-movies, fishing, and even went to six flags. As the kids got older they would go camping and fishing. Every night at 5 O’clock the family would sit down at the table and eat dinner. As the children went off to different places the couple would travel to visit them, even going across an ocean. At some point, the kids came home with their kids and we were all connected again. As Susie aged her hobbies changed. She would go to yard sales. Play cards, work in the garden, just be with her family. Holidays meant Grandma’s House, an all day event that was a lot of work but very rewarding. Susie always had family surrounding her. Susie provided everyone with hugs and kisses, she made sure everyone’s stomach was full and spread joy with her flowers. Her contagious unforgettable laugh made everyone’s day. Cremation has been accorded and surrounded by her beautiful garden, there will be a celebration of life on September 12

th

at her home at 2 p.m. All family and friends are welcome.
