(Schweppe) Gerdes.  She married Arthur S. Klingelhofer on April 12, 1947 in Chicago, IL.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 1998. She immigrated to the United States at the age of 9 with her parents and younger sister.  She spent her later childhood and young adult years in Chicago, IL before moving to Peoria in 1949 with her husband and their son. Klingelhofer (Scot Smith) of Five Islands, ME.  Also surviving is her sister, Gertrude Goodrich of Park Ridge, IL as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and their children. A devoted wife and mother, she was a talented artist and also loved traveling throughout the United States with her late husband, Arthur, as well as gardening, hiking, being outdoors, and horseback riding as a young woman.  In addition, she was very well-read and interested in world events.   Besides being a homemaker, she also worked in visual display at various stores. Her children wish to thank all the family and friends who loved her, as well as the staff of Brandon Wood Retirement Center, Home Bound Healthcare, Lutheran Hillside Village and Harbor Light Hospice, who provided invaluable love and care. Cremation has been accorded.  Family and friends are invited to join a Celebration of Life for Caroline at Shore Acres Clubhouse from Noon to 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 3.  Shore Acres Park is located at 100 Park Blvd. south of Chillicothe.  A service of remembrance will take place at 1:00 PM, followed by a luncheon.
