Obituary for Charles (Nick) Nixon
Charles W. (Nick) Nixon, 63, of Lacon, IL, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at his residence surrounded by family and friends. Nick was born in Peoria, IL to Clifford and Wanda Nixon on June 22, 1948. His father preceded him in death. Survivors include two children, his son Shandon (Jen) Nixon and their three children, Meghan, Zach and Kate; his daughter, Darcy (Ross) Kempf and their two children, Ethan and Evan; his lifelong friend and former spouse, Susie Lambrecht; his mother, Wanda and three sisters, Marlene Culbertson, Caroline (Jim) Crose and Janette (Mike) Adkinson and many loving nieces and nephews. Nick graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1966. He then joined the Navy where he served four years. He attended Canton Community College before transferring to Illinois State University where he graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Nick worked for Caterpillar for thirty years before retiring in 2009. He spent his time enjoying his children, grandchildren and playing golf. He was a member of the Lacon Country Club. He also spent the last several winters with his close friends in Gulf Shores, AL. A celebration of life will be held at the Lacon Country Club on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 2-6 P.M. Cremation rights have been accorded and private burial will be at the Chillicothe Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
