Obituary for Charles Rakestraw
Charles “Buddy” Rakestraw, 69, of Pekin passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born August 25, 1945 in Peoria to John F. and Betty Jane Heberer Rakestraw. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Peggy Rakestraw and one infant daughter. He is survived by his children, Tina Burd of Peoria, John Rakestraw of Bloomington, Matthew (Jennifer) Brown of Michigan; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Alice Byers of Illinois, Shirlene (Donnie) Vogert of Virginia, Diana (Art) Bisson of Maine and an additional three sisters and three brothers. He graduated from Pekin Community High School. He worked for BIW Ship Builder and General Dynamics whom sent him to Turkey and Saudi Arabia as an instructor for building Government Amphibian Tanks. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Havana Church of the Nazarene 328 S. Broadway Street, Havana, IL 62644 at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to TAPS in his name.
