Obituary for Clara E. Barnes
Clara E. Barnes 75, of Kingston Mines passed away on Friday July 11, 2008 at her home. Born in Roodhouse, IL on June 27, 1933 to Clarence and Freda Downs Jackson. She married Dale S. Barnes in Roodhouse on January 9, 1955, he preceded her in death on July 9, 2000 along with son Steven Barnes in 1986 and granddaughter Jessie L. Barnes in 1981. Clara is survived by her sons: Kevin of Kingston Mines, Michael (Elaine) of Pekin, sister Jane Pullings of Winchester, IL, grandchildren: Steve (Katie) Barnes, Isac Short, Alina (Joe) Kramer, Jennifer (Chris Elliott) Barnes, Ian Barnes and her great-grandchildren: Emily Barnes and Madison Kramer. She was a cook for area Restaurants and worked for the Canteen at Caterpillar for 13 years, retiring in 1995. Her passion was the making of sojourn bears for cancer patients. Clara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kingston Mines where a memorial service will be held for her at 1 p.m. on Tuesday July 15, Rev. James Reed will officiate. Private burial of cremains will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Relay for Life. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
