Obituary for Clara Pech
Clara L. Pech, 101, of Mapleton passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her residence. She was born September 24, 1913 in Sand Prairie Township to Charles and Ida Hoffman Birkmeier. She married Earnest M. Pech February 12, 1949 in Pekin; he preceded her in death August 19, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Frances Woodward; three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, William Pech of Mapleton, Judith Mead of Pekin; grandchildren, Shelli (Matthew) Harrison of Fairview, Kelsey (Ben) Lowery of Mapleton; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Madeline, Caleb, Haily, Collin, Nate and several nieces and nephews. Clara was a cook for many local restaurants. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Pekin and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will follow the mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate.
