Obituary for Clarence Zell
Clarence W. Zell Jr. 84, of Pekin passed away on Tuesday March 9, 2010 at Pekin Manor. Born November 26, 1925 in Spring Lake Twp to Clarence W. and Viola M. Schaeffer Zell Sr. He married Carlmaline Dorothy Montgomery in Pekin on October 11, 1947. She survives along with his children: Curtis (Heidi) Zell of Bloomington, Cathie (Rod) Bowlby of Minneapolis, MN, Cynthia (Jerry) Kersey of Carrollton, TX, Cassandra (Jesse) Morgan of San Diego and Carla (Mike) Wells of Highland, TX. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Scott (Meggan), Todd (Angie), Mandy, Matthew, Katy, Clint, Courtney, Clayton, Jesse, Sybil, Christopher, Madison, Mackenzie and great grandchildren: Henry, Grace, C.C., Lucy, Samantha, Addison and Collin. Is parents and brothers Richard and Robert preceded him in death. Clarence proudly served in the Navy during WWII and worked as a Purchasing Agent for 39 years at Keystone Steel and Wire Co., retiring on October 30, 1982. He then worked for 15 years as a self employed MFG Rep. He was a member of the Pekin Moose and St. Joseph Catholic Church where a Funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 13, at 10 a.m. Father Pat Fixsen will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service and burial of the cremains will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin at a later date. A visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary a 7 on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to St. Joseph Catholic Church or a Disabled Veterans charity. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
