Obituary for Clement Campbell
Clement A. Campbell, 91, of Pekin passed away Monday July 16, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born March 30, 1921 in Washington, Iowa to Charles P. and Ethel Maxwell Campbell. He married Ruth M. Rinderknecht, R.N. on January 24, 1948 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. She survives along with his children, John (Christine) Campbell, Laurence (Patricia) Campbell, Daniel (Mary Anne) Campbell, Therese Powers, Michael Campbell, Christopher Campbell, Rita (Timothy) Sierra, Mary (Clifford) Steele, Mark (Morna) Campbell, Kevin Campbell, Stephen (Carolyn) Campbell, and Richard (Lisa) Campbell; thirty grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Joseph Yock, Albert Rinderknecht, David Rinderknecht and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; grandson, Brad Campbell and daughter-in-law, Janet Campbell. Clem served as an Aviation Machinist 1st Class in the Navy Air Corps during WWII. He worked for Caterpillar receiving his 45 year pin. He was a member of the Secular Order of the Sacred Heart Fraternity from March 11, 1973 until his passing where he held offices in national and local fraternities. At St. Joseph Catholic Church, he was involved in various activities. He was a D.A.V. member for 32 years, Commander of Chapter #50 for 17 years, Chaplain State Department and Assistant Commander to the National Headquarters Department, Gold Circle member of the V.F.W., Pekin Moose Lodge #916 member, Charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Schlarman Council #3507 in Pekin where he was Faithful Navigator for the Fourth Degree. He was an avid sports fan favoring the Cardinals and passed his love of sports onto his family. Clem was very devoted to his God, his family, and his Country. A funeral mass will be held Monday July 23, 2012 at 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Fr. James Pankiewicz and Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday July 22, 2012 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin from 3:00-5:00pm, with a Rosary to follow at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brad Campbell Memorial Fund which benefits local children’s charities at 3302 Sheridan Rd, Pekin, IL 61554.
