Obituary for D. Steven Maricle
D. Steven Maricle, 69 of Peoria, IL passed away at 12:00a.m., Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Peoria.
Steve was born October 12, 1947 in Peoria, IL to Doyle and Frances Maricle. He married Linda Trail on July 19, 1969. She survives him.
Also surviving are two children, Dyrke (Sarah) Maricle of Clayton, NC and Jordan (Joshua) Clum of Peoria, IL. Four grandchildren, Ethan, Lucie, and Arlis Maricle and Ellowyn Clum. One sister, Christine (Roy) Buck and two nephews. They all know how much they were loved by him and he was treasured by them. He set a fine example for his children and grandchildren and leaves them with an understanding of the importance of laughter and joy in their lives. He was a shining example of a deep rooted and abiding faith in Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents and one grandchild.
As a young man, Steve played high school and collegiate sports. He was a Sergeant in the Illinois Air National Guard and a retired funeral director. Steve was a follower of Christ and served the Lord his entire life. He was a long-time member of Mt. Olive Missionary Church then later a founding elder of White Rose Fellowship in Bellevue, IL. He currently attended Richwoods Christian Church. His love of music followed him throughout his life…singing in church and area music events including The Pride of Peoria Chorus. Along with years as a member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America.
His grandchildren were a great joy in his life. He loved to encourage them as their talents and abilities developed. His family will miss him greatly but feel blessed by his legacy. He was a man who could light up a room with his wit and charm; adored by his family as a man of strong faith.
Visitation will be from 10 to 12, Saturday October 29th at Richwoods Christian Chruch, 8115 N. Knoxville Avenue, Peoria, IL with a celebration of life service at noon. Rev. Jim Powell will officiate. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Peoria Rescue Ministries, 601 SW Adams, Peoria, IL.
