Obituary for David Johnson

David A. Johnson, 47, of Peoria passed away Monday December 5, 2011 at his residence. David was born October 1, 1964 in Alexandria, VA to Norita and Albert Johnson. He is survived by his Mother. He was preceded in death by his Father. He was also preceded in death by his much loved Step-Father Richard L. Danner. He married D. Jane Otto on July 12, 1997. She survives. Jane was truly his soul mate. Also surviving are two daughters, Marry (Jeremy) Schlobohm of Brimfield, IL and Melissa (Marcus) Gatlin of Creve Coeur IL. Four much loved grandchildren, Hailey and Bryce Schlobohm and Bradley and Angel Gatlin. They will truly miss their Poppy. He is further survived by brothers, Michael Edward and Darryl, Sisters, Donna, Maureen, Doreen, Rebecca Diane, Sharon Elizabeth and Jennifer, special family friends Mike Smith, Sharon Stevens, Tamra Brown and Scott Johnson , and host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

David worked for G&D Integrated on the Track Line for 16 years. He will be missed by his coworkers, his "G&D Family". They called him "Madd Dog" then just "Dog". He worked with a good team and of course they eventually came to know that he knew everything :)........

David served in the Armed Services and was Honorably Discharged. He was proud to be an American. David's greatest joy in life was being with his grandchildren. He was so proud of Hailey and Bryce's accomplishments in school...When Bradley was told his Poppy had gone to Heaven, he very seriously asked his Mommy if they had food in Heaven. Angel said, well, she was strong and would just go up to Heaven and bring him back. One of David's favorite things to do was wrestling with his nephews Michael David and Josh and watching sports with them...Man, could they get loud....His little Indian Princess Kayleigh Beth was his biggest cheer leader. Fishing with his brother Mike was something that he cherished and wished that he could have done more often. Once while visiting his Kentucky nieces and nephews, one of the little ones said "what is your name" He said "I'm Uncle Python" the name stuck and they called him Uncle Python from then on.

David was able be a donor and as a result his death was not in vain. He was able to bring help to numerous people. He would want all of his friends to check the back of their driver’s license and be sure they had filled out the donor information on the back. David had a hard exterior but a big, gentle heart. He will be truly missed by all. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday December 10, 2011 at Abts Mortuary, 905 S. 5th St., Pekin.
