Obituary for David Muriel Ward
David Muriel Ward, 83, of Kingston Mines formerly of Peru, IN passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1933 in Jerseyville, IL to Jonah A. and Agnes R. Franz Ward. He was married to Jane T. Ward from 1953 to 1985 then he married Patricia K. Hardwick on June 12, 1993; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Sue) Ward of Aurora, CO, Shiona Ward of Aurora, CO; step-children, Deb Burns of Glasford, Pat (Roger) Clemens of Yates City, Mike (Connie) Hardwick of Manito, Mark (Cheryl) Hardwick of East Peoria; numerous grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids and brother, Hollis Ward of Dow. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dale Ward, Robert Ward, Charles Ward, Don Ward and Paul Ward. He volunteered for the USAF in 1951, subsequently had an honorable retirement in 1971. He was stationed in Scotland, Germany, France, Pakistan and a year at Nakhon Phanom Thailand (June 68-June 69) as well as in US. He had been in MATS, TAC, SAC and ATC as a supply sergeant in most assignments. In Thailand he was an air commando. He retired from American Standard as owner-operator of Dave Ward Trucking and life-time member owner-operator Independent Drivers Association. He made many runs for Komatsu to Canada, racking up a million miles. His famous words were “We’ll make it happen”. Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 25
