Obituary for Dennis Hill
Dennis Lee Hill, 79, of Pekin, IL died at 9:35 A.M. on February 16, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1934 in Buffalo, MO to Irvin “Doc” Hill and Faye McDaniels Hill. He married Norma J. Kirk in 1952. He later married Sally J. (Meredith) Carnell in 1979, she survives. He is also survived by one daughter; Denise J. Stephenson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, two step-daughters; Shari (Scott) Carroll of Pekin, IL, Beth Carnell of Pekin, IL,  one step-son; Paul David (Eric Olson) Carnell of Chicago, IL, four grandchildren; Marla (Jason) Fair of Hendersonville, NC, Gregory Allison Jr. of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Breanne Carroll of Pekin, IL, Alyssa Carroll of Pekin, IL, and one great-grand-daughter; Jade Allison of Lake Havasu City, AZ, a brother; Phillip (Mardel) Hill of Green Valley, IL, two sisters; Joan Hoover of Lawrence, KS and Mary Lou (Don) Gower of Elkland, MO, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dennis worked 10 years for Caterpillar, Inc. He learned to fly and joined his brother Phillip; together they operated Hill Brothers Aviation for thirteen years. Dennis loved teaching people to fly and clocked over 25,000 hour’s flight time. He finished out his career as the corporate pilot for Excel Foundry in Pekin, IL. Dennis once flew the famous Bears head coach- Mike Ditka. There will be a memorial service for Dennis on February 22, 2013 at 1 PM at Liberty Baptist Church 2105 Sheridan Road, in Pekin, Illinois. Dr. Tim Najpaver will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to Tazewell Animal Protection Society (T.A.P.S.) of 100 TAPS Lane, Pekin, IL 61554.
