Obituary for Donald E. Nelson
Donald Eugene Nelson, Sr., 69, of Pekin, IL passed away on Wednesday morning, May 9th, 2012 with his beloved wife and son at his bedside at Washington Christian Village in Washington, IL. He was born April 6, 1943 in, St Paul, MN, the son of Orvel and Edith (Baugher) Nelson. He married Sandra Friday on December 13, 1975. Don worked as an auto body technician at many body shops in the Pekin area and retired from Velde Ford in 1998. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved cooking and fishing. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Surviving are his wife Sandra of Pekin; a son, Donald Nelson Jr. of Pekin; daughters, Dawn (Bob) Otten and Edie (Dan) Lowman both of Mason City, and Tammy (David) Smith of Springfield; stepsons, Jeff and Eric Coulter; step-daughters Lorna (Joe) Sparrow of Norris City, and Alice Williams of Mason City; grandchildren, Kayla and Sommer Nelson, Kirstin Lowman, Autumn and Evans Smith, Mandy Murdach, Mallory Anderson, Shanna Smith and Tyler Williams; great-grandchildren, Desiree and Isabel Murdach and Addie and Mia Anderson; brothers, Danny (Maxine) of Lincoln and Dennis (Patty) of Galva. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Duane, Darrel, and Dale. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded and interment will be at a later date at Harris Cemetery in Table Grove, IL.
