Obituary for Donald Poneleit
Donald August Poneleit 79, of Deer Creek passed away on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born in Collinville on January 16, 1930 to August and Marie Navero Poneleit. He is survived by his children: Kathy (Robert) Hersch of Rockville, MD, David Poneleit of Deer Creek, Mary Ann (Don) Steffen of Cleveland, OH, sister June (Jim) Keane of Gansevoort, NY and his 2 grandchildren. His parents, brothers: Gerald and Dean and sister Mary Poneleit preceded him in death. Donald served in the Navy and worked 53 years for Pen Central Railroad and was a Inspector for F.R.A. Federal Railroad Administration where he was rated #7, retiring in 2003. He was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Washington. Cremation has been accorded and services will be at a later date. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
