Obituary for Dorothy Jean Laughead
Dorothy Jean Laughead, 87, of Peoria passed away on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital (OSF) in Peoria. She was born January 21, 1926, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Wm. Henry and Edna Emma (Biebigheuser) Rueter. She married Clarence William "Bill" Laughead March 29, 1947, in Moline, Illinois.  Surviving are her daughter, Janet Berfield of Peoria, two sons, Donald Laughead of Moline and Robin (Kathy) Laughead of Zwingle, Iowa; four grandchildren, Thomas (Elizabeth) Berfield of Louisville, Ky., Laura Berfield of Chicago, Amber and Elyse Laughead of Davenport, Ia. and two great-grandchildren, Lillianne and Flora Berfield of Louisville, Ky. Dorothy Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers (Kenneth, Maurice, and Donald) and her beloved sister Wilma. Dorothy was a graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College. She worked as a secretary for John Deere and as a sales clerk at J C Penney. Cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no visitation and services will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal
