Obituary for Dr. Gene G. Rushford
Dr. Gene G. Rushford 90, of Peoria passed away on Tuesday September 16, 2008 in Peoria. He was born to George A. and Rose Sellett Rushford in Witt, Illinois on November 22, 1917. He is survived by his daughter Bobbi (Kerry) Grimes of Peoria, son Greg (Lucy) Rushford of Washington, VA, sister Sylvia Ormiston of Savoy, IL, two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His brothers; Dr. Irwin Rushford and Dr. Lou M. Rushford preceded him in death. Dr. Rushford was a Doctor of Optometry, graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign and the College of Optometry in Chicago. He practiced in the Peoria area for 55 years and was the owner operator of Rushford Optical. Dr. Rushford was a former member of the First Federated Church in Peoria and a member of The Creve Coeur Club, the Optimist Club, the Sertoma Club and was an avid golfer. Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. is assisting the family with arrangements.
