Obituary for Earl "Brownie" Henry Brown
Earl “Brownie” H. Brown, 90, of Peoria passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his residence surrounded by loved ones. He was born October 10, 1926 in Jacksonville to Harry and Aretha Henry Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Raymond Cox. He is survived by many loving family and friends including, his significant other, Kathyrn Shepard; her children, Shelly (David) Mansfield, Angie (Jim) Gomes, Sheila (Brett) Dewey; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his cousins, Steven Drury, Jimmy Drury, Carol Roger, Kevin Roger, Charlotte Edelbrock, Dennis Edelbrock; longtime friend, Jean Clugsten and beloved pet Angell. Earl served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was an Operating Engineer at the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Northern Regional Research Lab in Peoria; retiring in 1979. He also worked for Cumerford-Endsley Memorial Home for 50 years. He was a member of Temple Lodge No. 46 A.F. & A.M., Mohammed Temple Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Peoria, VFW and American Legion. Earl loved fishing, pheasant hunting and eagle watching. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in his name.
