Obituary for Earnest M. Pech
Earnest M. Pech 91, of Pekin passed away on Wednesday August 19, 2009 at his residence. Born in Delavan on January 25, 1918 to Emil and Grace Creager Pech. He married Clara Birkmeier on February 12, 1949. She survives along with his children: William E. Pech and Judith C. (Clint) Mead both of Pekin, sister Mary Thurmaier of Stevens Point, WI, grandchildren: Shelli (Matt) Harrison and Kelsey (Ben) Lowery. His 4 great grandchildren also survive him. His 2 brothers and 1 sister preceded him in death. Earnest was in the Infantry during WWII with the Army, was the owner of an Ice business in Delavan for 10 years, worked at Pekin Insurance for 12 years and Standard Brands for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He was a humble and honorable man with the best wife in the world. Earnest was a member of the VFW, former Commander of the Delavan American Legion post #382 and belonged to the American Legion in Pekin. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held on Saturday August 22, at noon with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Timothy Nolan will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Joseph Catholic Church or Hospice Compassus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
