Obituary for Edward G. Orth
Edward G. Orth, of Peoria IL, loving husband and Dad, passed away on October 29th, 2016. He was the son of Irene M. Orth (Murtaugh) and Edward Roy Orth of Chicago. He was born June 27, 1929 in Chicago, IL and attended Our Lady of Peace Grade School, Tilden Technical High School and received his B.S in Mechanical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology; class of 1955. Edward served one and a half years in the U.S. Navy Reserve and two years in the 46th Engineering Construction Battalion in the U.S. Army. He moved to Peoria in 1955 and was employed for 36 years by Letourneau-Westinghouse (Komatsu) as Manager for the New Products Group. On August 23rd, 1958, he married Margaret E. Bruce (Kamp). Ed met his wife Peg at the annual Sports Car Club Halloween Party, were she was dressed as a bum. Until the day of her death he lovingly called her “Bum. Upon the birth of their daughter Kathy, Ed and Peg became active in Peoria Association for Retarded Citizens (EPIC). Over the years, both served on PARC’s board. He gave 17 years to the organization and is thankful for the services available to his daughter Kathy. Peg Orth preceded him in death on March 5, 2015, he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Karen L. Cotton and Katherine L. Orth. Surviving is his daughter, Kristine L. Stayton and her husband, Kerry T. Stayton; granddaughters, Kerstin Stayton and LeeAnne Cotton as well as one great granddaughter, Acylea Richardson and several nieces and nephews. Ed enjoyed sailing, bowling, golf, hunting, fishing and the association with other members of PARC. Memorial contributions may be made to EPIC 1913 W. Townline Rd, Peoria, IL 61615 in his name. Services will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church 904 E. Lake Ave, Peoria Heights, IL 61616 on Saturday, November 19th, 2016. The visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. and a mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the services.
