Obituary for Eleanor Mahoney
Eleanor “Penny” C. Mahoney 86, of Pekin passed away Friday February 4, 2011 at Pekin Manor. She was born November 29, 1924 to Clarence and Mildred Capes Root in Pekin. She married Jerry Mahoney August 17, 1943 in Michigan City, IN. He preceded her in death August 28, 1981. She is also preceded in death by her parents and daughter; Kathryn Mary Alton. She is survived by her 2 sons; Patrick (Sue) Mahoney of Goodfield, Daniel (Renee) Mahoney of Manito, daughter; Peggy Pierce of Brandenton, FL, sister; Kathryn (James) Cruise of Michigan City, IN, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, a member of the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary and a volunteer at the hospital. A visitation will be held Monday February 7, 2011 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin from 5 to 7 pm with recitation of the Rosary by Father James Pankiewicz at 7 pm. Cremation will be accorded and a private family burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
