Obituary for Elmer Griffin
Elmer Jarvis Griffin, 95, of Peoria passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center of Peoria. He was born August 11, 1919 in Bolton, NY to Henry and Marguerite Taylor Griffin. He married Juanita Feagin, she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Linda and Sharon; sons, Gary and David; sisters, Elsie and June; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ethel Dodge Griffin; sisters, Marjorie, Nellie, Loraine and son, Charles. Elmer served in the U.S. Army and served overseas during WWII in the Medical Corp. He received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He owned Elm Landscaping retiring in 2005. The most important things to him were family and country. He loved to watch John Wayne movies and Cardinals Baseball. Cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. Those wishing to may make a memorial donation to any Veterans organization in his name.
