Obituary for Eva Morton
Eva V. Morton, 94, of Manito passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Farmington Country Manor. She was born November 23, 1921 in Peoria to Edward and Leona Newcomb Phillips. She married Ellis Randle, later marring her loving husband Gilbert Morton on January 2, 1957; he preceded her in death October 6, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ellis Randle; great-grandson, Stanford Downing; one sister and one brother. She is survived by her son, Stanford (Karen) Randle of Glasford; step-son, James (Sandra) Morton of Manito; grandchildren, Scott, Jackie and Craig Randle and Troy and Chad Morton; three great-grandchildren and nephew, Don (Sue) Guinn of Canton. Eva and Gil owned many restaurants and taverns over the years. They opened the famous Gil’s Supper Club in Hanna City, IL., where Eva worked as the Kitchen Manager, overseeing the cooks as they made her famous corn fritters and the best fried chicken in the greater Peoria area. Gil and the rest of the staff kept the customers happy as Eva kept the good food coming from the kitchen. In 1986 Gil and Eva sold the restaurant and retired but Gil’s Supper Club is still open and using Eva’s famous recipes. Per her wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. Memorials may be made to Vitas Hospice 5019 N. Executive Drive, Peoria, IL 61614 in her name. Special thanks to all from the family, that did make Eva's passing easier on her and us.
