Obituary for Evelyn Mae Melton
Evelyn Mae Hamilton Melton passed away peacefully in Pekin, IL on Aug. 5, 2012. Predeceased by her parents, she is the daughter of the late C. Paul Jones and Francis Jones West, and stepmother Grace Burke Jones of Columbus, OH. She follows her sister Phyllis Louise Howe and brother-in-law Elton W. (Bud) Howe, Jr. in death. Born in Columbus OH, she grew up in Columbus and Cleveland and graduated from Columbus North High School. At various points in her life, she lived in Columbus, Westerville, Cleveland, and Bellevue, Ohio, as well as Florida, Maryland, and California. Her many friends and professional associates include current and former employees of Cleveland State University College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue Attorneys at Law. She married Fred J. Melton November 15, 2002 in Pekin. He survives along with her children, John Hamilton of East Windsor NJ, Martha Hamilton of Cleveland, OH, Janet Nunan of Peoria, IL, Patricia VonBoeckman of Spring Lake, IL, and Mark Melton of Cocoa, FL. In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren, Justin Hamilton of Miami Beach, FL, Lindsey Hamilton of Langhorne PA, Jennifer Smith of Peoria IL, Scott Nunan of Metamora, IL, Dylan VonBoeckman, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Glendale Cemetery on Fri., Aug 10, 2012 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army of Pekin, IL.
