Obituary for George Henry McAvin
George Henry McAvin, 74, of Pekin passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born August 7, 1940 in Pekin to George Samuel and Edith Lauss McAvin. He married the love of his life Carol Grazier July 2, 1960 in Pekin, she survives. He is also survived by his children, George S. (Denise) McAvin of Pekin, Georgia Ann Kelley of Pekin, Elizabeth (Michael) Bier of Pekin, Nena (Randy) Garske of Bartonville, Helena (John) Harris of East Peoria, George Henry (Emma) McAvin of Pekin; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith June (Cleveland) Osborn of South Pekin, Patricia (Ron) Stark of Missouri, Loretta Buley of Lowpoint; many nieces, nephews and his beloved pet, Junior. He was preceded in death by his, parents; great-grandson, Caiden Pennell; sister, Cheryl Hughes and beloved pet, Piercee. George worked for Komatsu, retiring in 2000. He had many hobbies over the years; he loved camping, the outdoors and watching westerns. He enjoyed his children riding their motorcycles. He was a loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at his home. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care Center in Peoria in his name.
