Obituary for Geraldine W. Betson
Geraldine W. “Geri” Betson 80, of Pekin passed away on Sunday July 26, 2009 at Sunset Rehabilitation and Health Care in Canton. Born in Springfield on December 12, 1928 to Clarence and Gertrude Lamb Turner. She married Lumbert “Lum” Betson in Pekin on January 19, 1947. He survives along with her children; Lumbert L.R. “Butch” (Connie) Betson Jr., Michael (Gail) Betson and Deborah “Debbie” (Bernard) Happach all of Pekin, sisters; Dorothy Norris of Arkansas and Patricia Carter of Morton and her 7 grand and 7 great grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Geri worked at American Distillery for 2 years, Central Book & Toy for 3 years and St. Joseph Catholic School cafeteria for 10 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday July 29, at 11 a.m. at her church. Father Pat Fixsen will officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary on Tuesday from 4 to 6:30 with a Rosary at 6:30. Memorials may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
