Obituary for Gladys A. Harris
Gladys A. Harris 86, of Washington passed away on Sunday November 8, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. Born in North Dakota on February 16, 1923 to John and Louise Zorn Giedd. She married Michael J. Harris in Peoria on June 28, 1941. He preceded her in death in 2001. Also preceding were her parents and brother Norris. Gladys is survived by her children: Michaeline (Stuart) Harrison of Canton, Linda (Robert) Synovitz of Hammond, LA, Joylene Frye (J.W. Collins) of Macomb, Kristy (Will) Fiedler of Washington Michael J. Harris II of Macomb, brother Kenneth Giedd of Phoenix, AZ and her 13 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Gladys was also a skilled Seamstress and Artist. Her artwork graces the homes of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed Square and Ballroom Dancing with her husband for many years. She was raised and baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and knew and loved the Lord. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, family and home. She will be missed by all. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday November 14, at the Cross Point Church, 400 S. Pleasant Hill Rd in East Peoria at 2:00 p.m. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
