Obituary for Helen Danko
Helen Danko of North Pekin formally of Streator passed away Sunday November 7, 2010 at her residence. She was born June 19, 1914 in Wenona, IL to Ambrose and Mary Yambrosic Smith. She was married to Walter L. Danko by Rev. E.S. Dunn on June 27, 1939 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Wenona. Her husband preceded her in death on September 4, 1953. She was also preceded in death by her 2 brothers; Michael Rescan, Frank Smith, 2 sisters; Agnes Piraino and Emma Nadler. She is survived by her 2 sons; John “Howard” Danko of River Forest, IL, Daniel (Marilyn) Danko of Downers Grove, IL, daughter; Mary Ellen (Randy) Carney of Pekin, IL, sister; Alma Seghetti of Peoria, IL, and several nephews. She is also survived by Carol Tannhauser and family. She was the manager of the school cafeteria for St. Stephen’s School in Streator, IL where she worked for more than 30 years. Helen was loving, and dedicated to her family. She was high energy with a strong sense of duty and she had a great sense of humor. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday November 11, 2010 at the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Streator, IL at 11:30 am with a visitation at Solon-Telford Funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the St. Stephens Cemetery.
