Obituary for Helen Elam
Helen Marie Elam, 69, of Peoria passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at her residence. She was born February 11, 1945 in Peoria to Orval and Catherine Johnson Eggers. She married Roy Mack Elam Sr. July 5, 1960 in Peoria. He survives along with her children, Roy M. (Betty) Elam Jr. of Alabama, Catherine L. Elam of Peoria, William O. (Karen) Elam of East Peoria, Maxine M. Elam of Creve Coeur, Clarence A. Elam of East Peoria; four sisters, Kay (Carl) Roos of West Peoria, Kathleen Brehen of Whitt, June (Ron) Sonderman of Tennessee, Henrietta Eggers of Whitt; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Opal Hambey and brother, Clarence Eggers. Helen worked at Wal-Mart for 25 years retiring in 2011. Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life/Pot Luck will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her residence, 3803 W. Virden Court, Peoria, IL 61615 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lung Cancer Awareness c/o Illinois Cancer Care 8940 N. Wood Sage Road, Peoria, IL 61615.
