Obituary for Inez Reader
Inez Zelma Reader of Pekin passed away at 1:10 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2013 at OSF St. Frances Medical Center in Peoria, just 3 days from her 99th birthday. Inez last resided at 300 North 14th Street in Pekin. Inez was born December 15, 1914, at Orchard Mines, to Mae Hinds and Carlos Raineri. She married Fredrick Reinhard Reader in 1936 and was divorced in 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Frank Howat, Anthony Raineri, Verne Raineri, Joseph Gariglietti, three sisters, Elvera Raineri, Dorothy Gariglietti, Betty Gariglietti, and one son, Gerald Joseph Reader. Inez is survived by one son, Fredrick David Reader, one daughter, Barbara Ann Owens both of Pekin, five grandchildren, Richard Owens, David Owens, Mike Reader, Ron Reader, Steve Reader, many great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Inez was truly an independent woman and role model, but she never tried to draw attention to herself. Inez loved her family members and was very much loved by them. Inez was generous with her time and money and would always come to the aid of anyone who needed help of any kind. Inez was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. She donated time and money to TAPS, and donated time to Pekin Township. She was employed outside her home most of her adult life, last working full time at Standard Brands in Pekin, and part time at Bergner’s in Pekin. A funeral service will be held at Abts Mortuary on Monday, December 16th at 10 a.m. with burial following at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
