Obituary for James R. Markum
James R. Markum 69, of Pekin passed away on Saturday August 8, 2009 at Pekin Hospital. Born in Eldorado on December 30, 1939 to James and Elwanda Horn Markum. He married Sally L. Goodwin in Peoria on April 20, 1962. She survives along with his mother of Creve Coeur, children; James (Angela) Markum and Melody Metzler both of Pekin, brothers; Harold (Anne) of Washington, David (Lynn Sue) of Bartonville, Kenny (Lynn) of Trivoli and grandchildren; Britt J., Samantha M. and Blake J. Markum, Cole A. and Carson S. Metzler and Zachary R. Janes. His father and sisters; Regina Blanton, Janis Moore and Carolyn Markum preceded him in death. James was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and worked as a Foreman at Harlan Tek Lad, formerly Allied Mills, retiring in 2001. He was baptized in the Methodist faith, liked to hunt and fish, loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears and loved his grandchildren with all his heart. A public visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Wednesday August 12, from 10 to 11 a.m. with private family services and burial following at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Rev. Terry Edele will officiate. Memorials may be made in his name to the Pekin Union Mission Sunday School or First United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir in Pekin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary in Pekin.
