Obituary for James Shaw
James Edward Shaw, 92, of Pekin passed away Friday November 23, 2012 at Hallmark House Nursing Home in Pekin. He was born June 13, 1920 in Hanna City to Richard and Jessie Carpenter Shaw. He married Hazel Ruth Schooley October 4, 1941 in Peoria. She preceded him in death September 13, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, John Shaw; grandson, Christopher Sheets and two brothers, John and Richard. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Samuel) Sisk of Dunlap; grandchildren, James Edward Shaw, Jody Jean Barber, Chad Howard Shaw, William Thomas Sheets, Jeffrey John Sheets and great-grandchildren, Shelby Taylor, Austin Hale, Erin Barber and Kaylee Shaw. James served in the U.S. Army and later in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked at Carlton Russell Tire Co. for 35 years retiring in 1974. He previously worked at Caterpillar. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. The family would like to give special thanks to the John Evans Home and Hallmark House Nursing Home staffs. A funeral service will be held Tuesday November 27, 2012 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Grade School or John Evans activity fund in his name.
