Obituary for Janice Utsinger
Janice Elaine Utsinger, 52, of Peoria, formerly of Canton, passed

away at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday (February 9, 2010) at OSF St. Francis Medical

Center in Peoria, with her family by her side.

Janice was born April 15, 1957, in Canton, the daughter of Wilbur Donald and

Lillian C. (Johnson) Utsinger.

Survivors include two brothers, Richard D. (Nancy) Holloway of Banner and

Wilbur Donald Jr. (Terry) Utsinger of Ranger, Texas; two sisters, Rosemary

(John) Linder of Springfield, Ohio and Grace (Bob) Bohler of Canton; one

brother-in-law, Phillip North of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 17 nieces and

nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, who thought she was a

loving aunt with a big heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ethel North; one

brother, Robert Utsinger; one nephew, Johnny Cowden; and one niece, Susan Hogue.

Janice was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Canton.

She worked at Graham Hospital in Canton in the dietary department for many

years, later retiring and moving to Peoria to be close to her family.

She loved her friends and family, spending time with her niece, and babysitting her

great-nephew, Ryan (her little tater). She was an avid Hanson fan, and enjoyed traveling to see

live music and the countryside with her niece. She was always up for

adventure.

Some of her recent travels included trips to Tulsa, Kentucky, Ohio, St. Louis,

Indiana, Milwaukee, Hollywood, Carnegie Hall, and New York. She also enjoyed

traveling each year to the Old Thresher's Reunion for the antique cars and

crafts, and seeing more family. In the summertime, she spent many hours

helping can homemade jams, jellies, and applebutter, some of which was

shared on the Spoon River Drive, along with the various crafts she made.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Cemetery, the

Rev. Rick Atchley officiating. There will be no visitation. The family is

being served by the Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois in Pekin. In leu of flowers,

memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
