Obituary for Jeffrey L. Seelye
Jeffrey L. Seelye, 67, of Pekin passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his residence with his children by his side.
He was born October 28, 1956, in Pekin to Loren Seelye and Dorothy Oberle Seelye. His parents and brothers, John Seelye and Joseph Seelye preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Jennifer Schurman) Seelye, Amanda Seelye; grandchildren, Jenna Seelye, Jett Seelye, Xander Way, Jade Hackward, Audrey Hackward; great-grandchildren, Rose Byard, Silas Byard, Theia Tazelaar and sister, Janet “Bunny” Jones.
Jeff was a dedicated employee at Lonza Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 2012. His Lonza family nicknamed him Rufus.
He graduated from Pekin Community High School and attended ICC.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Jeff devoted his life to working hard, providing for his family that he loved and cherished. Jeffrey had a huge heart, always wanting to make others smile and laugh. His passion was watching sports. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and Milwaukee Bucks.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Abts Mortuary in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Club or Union Mission in his name.
