Obituary for Jennie A Strauman
Jennie A. Strauman, 92, of Pekin, IL passed away Sunday March 11, 2012 at Hopedale Nursing Home in Hopedale, IL. She was born January 3, 1920 in Kenney, IL to Henry and Edna Moretz Holland. She married Russell R. Strauman September 27, 1948 in Prairie Du Chien, WI. He preceded her in death November 7, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Henry, Dean, Lucille, William, Lloyd (Opal), Carl and Presley. She is survived by her children, Linda (Bill) Sarff of Pekin, IL, Gerald (Sue) Strauman of Havana, IL, Mike (Teri) Strauman of Pekin, IL, Richard (Darl) Strauman of Palos Park, IL, Mary (Bob) Andrews of Libertyville, IL; grandchildren, John (Mary Jo), Jennie (Brad), MaryClare, Jim, Mike, Jamie, John, Jason, Ashley, Stu, Max; great-grandchildren, Anna, Russell, Riley and Phoenix. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Rosella Scherlin, Dorothy Holland and Virginia Holland and many nieces and nephews. Jennie worked in the municians plant in Illiopolis, IL during WWII, State Farm in Bloomington, IL, Sears Robuck in Joliet, IL and at Russ Strauman’s Outfitter to Men & Boys in Pekin, IL, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Ladies of Columbus, the Altar & Rosary Society, Emblem Club, pinochle club for 55 years, an avid bowler, she was the Mother of the year in 1968 and she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a funeral mass will be held Friday March 16,  2012 at 11am. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Visitation will be at Abts Mortuary on Thursday March 15, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School or the Hopedale Medical Complex in her name.
