Obituary for Jerry Moore
Jerry W. Moore, 73, of Peoria passed away Tuesday October 23, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born August 17, 1939 in Macomb, IL to Chalmer and Genevieve Wayland Moore. He married Lynn Cole August 30, 1970 in Peoria. She survives along with his children, Gerrilynne (Richard) Knapp of Naperville, IL, James Moore of Peoria, Scott (Jennifer) Moore of Peoria, Michael (Rebecca) Moore of Peoria; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Brenda (Stephen) Blake of Peoria, Karen Meister of Melbourne, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jerry served in the U.S. Army. He was a local businessman; he owned and operated Business Computer Solutions. He was a pilot and avid hunter. He started the Pioneer Boxing Club in downtown Peoria for disadvantaged youth which he ran for many years. He also promoted professional boxing in Peoria. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday October 27, 2012 at his son Michael’s residence, 6620 N. Brookwood Lane, Peoria, IL 61614 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association in his name.
