Obituary for Jesse James Cody Jr.
Jesse James Cody Jr. 66, of Manito passed away on Thursday March 24, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born in Springfield to Jesse James and Jewel Bowen Cody Sr. on April 12, 1944. He married Carol Reiser in Springfield on May 8, 1965. She survives along with his children: Lisa (Tom) Umholtz of Glasford, Trisha Cody of San Antonia, TX, Heather (Mike) Worner of Forest City, Geoff Cody of Mount Vernon, sister Faye Hughes of Pawnee, mother-in-law Marguerite Saccaro of Springfield, grandchildren; Scott Worner, Kaytlyn Worner and Tori Cody. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. His parents and step-father Woodrow Hinds preceded him in death. Jesse worked as a Machinist at Caterpillar for 31 years retiring in 1997. He was an avid Cardinals and Bears fan and he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Monday March 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with cremation taking place after the visitation. Memorials may be made in his name to the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
