Obituary for JoAnn Ripper
JoAnn Ripper, 90, of Pekin passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Pekin Manor. She was born November 30, 1922 in Terre Haute, IN to Edward and Mabel Kortkamp Canaday. She married William Ripper August 1, 1953. He preceded her in death October 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen (Larry) Albrecht; brothers, Don, John “Jack”, Carl “Ted” and sister, Mary Ellen. She is survived by her grandson, Kurt Albrecht, granddaughter, Kelly Albrecht and great-granddaughter, Katelynn Albrecht all of Pekin. JoAnn was a Lab Supervisor for Peoria Sanitary District retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin. She enjoyed her international travels, sewing, cooking, playing cards and entertaining family and friends. The family would like to thank Passages Hospice for all the love and care given to JoAnn and her entire family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin at 10 a.m. Fr. James Pankiewicz will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery Mausoleum in Pekin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
