Obituary for Joan Mullen
Joan L. Mullen, 80, of Johnstown, OH formerly of Pekin, IL passed away Tuesday February 21, 2012 at her residence. She was born January 6, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Helen Cardott Oechsle. She married John Mullen in Chicago, IL April 14, 1951. He preceded her in death March 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Laurel; infant grandson, Patrick; brothers, Bill Oechsle, Carl Oechsle and sisters, Renee Sachs and Charlene Moberg. She is survived by her children, Patrick (Cheryl) Mullen of Johnstown, OH, Dennis Mullen of Pekin, IL, Victoria (Bill) Thompson of Pekin, IL and Jennifer (Ernest) Massart of Dublin, OH. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joan was a business woman her whole life. She enjoyed reading, travel and art. Her family was everything to her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL where a funeral mass will be held Monday February 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. Fr. James Pankiewicz will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the services. A visitation will be held Sunday February 26, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Abts Mortuary in Pekin, IL. Memorials may be made to St Jude Memorial Research Hospital in her name.
