Obituary for Joan R. Klinkradt
Pekin - Joan R. Klinkradt, 73 of Pekin passed away peacefully, with a smile, at her home and in the arms of her son on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 22, 2007 after several weeks of loving care and assistance from her entire family and friends. Born in Peoria on June 14, 1934 to John and Amy Hobby Koteles, she married Donald L. Cassidy in 1958, and later James Klinkradt in 1965. Her parents and beloved dog and companion of 19 years, Mopsy preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, John C. Koteles Jr of Peoria Heights, her sons; Kevin (Julia) Cassidy of Bartonville, Eric, Kurt (Heather) and Scott Klinkradt, all of Pekin and many grand and great grandchildren. Joan worked for the Illinois Department of Human Services for many years and made many friends, gratefully retiring in January of 2000. She became a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Peoria. Joan dearly loved family gatherings and never missed birthdays, holidays, births, baptisms or other special occasions. She deeply enjoyed camping and fishing with her sons and grandchildren. She was always known to nurture any creature in need. She will be remembered by her many Christ-like acts of mercy and forgiveness as well as for providing selflessly to anyone in need. She leaves us all with a badge of strength for having never retreated in the face of adversity. Joan instilled in us all the gift of caring for others, as she did, even in the later stages of her illness. Even when she had trouble walking, she participated in the Race for the Cure. A funeral mass will be held for her on Tuesday November 27, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Father Terry Cassidy will officiate. Cremation will be accorded after the service and burial of ashes will be at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
